Checking to see how your municipalities address site grading/drainage issues on private property (between neighbors)? Our area received a lot of rain this year and we had to deal with numerous calls and complaints (water from a property draining into another neighbor’s). Whether it’s specific sections in your own Land Use Bylaw, different Bylaws or even standard procedures or policies. Any information you have would be great.

Thank you for your help, we do have some sections in our Land Use Bylaw on grading and drainage. Sometimes we’ll do site visits and meet with the residents and sometimes the solutions are simple (moving an eavestrough in a different direction, relocating a small shed, etc.). Other times it’s something that is our of our control (land being on a slope or hill, etc.). We’re trying to create consistent procedure in dealing with these.
